What is a Groups Fair?

A Groups Fair at Elim Gospel Church (EGC) is an event that takes place at the start of each Community Group Quarter. The Groups Fair is designed to show case the various Community Groups being offered at EGC that particular Quarter.

Where is the Groups Fair?

The Groups Fair is normally held in the main lobby and hallways.

When are the Groups Fairs?

Each Groups Fair happens during the Sunday morning services at the start of each quarter (Fall, Winter and Spring). The fairs are well annunced and preceeded by Groups Booklet being passed out the week prior so that people have a week to look at the various groups being offered. Each Groups Fair happens right after the 1st and 2nd service on the Sunday morning set aside for the Groups Fair.

Who can I talk to at a Groups Fair?

In order to find out about a specific group you will have the opportunity to speak to the leader of that group the morning of the Groups Fair after each Sunday service that day. The leader will be at a table that describes their group and will give you an opportunity to sign up for their group at that time.

When I sign up for a group what will I be committing myself to?

You will be committing yourself to joining that Community Group for that particular quarter. Your group will have the opportunity to stay together and enjoy another quarter together, or they may disband and get involved with other groups. You may also decide you cannot meet that next quarter. Any of these options are open to you. However, during the quarter you signed up for it is expected that you would go to the meetings, be on time and actively participate in the group.

Will we be studying the Bible?

Yes. The emphasis is on applying God’s Word to your life while giving you the opportunity to discuss your walk with God with others. This emphasis is there so that you can more fully share and live your Christian faith in a community of Christ-followers.

If I do not find a group at the Groups Fair, what do I do?

If you cannot find a group and would like to be plugged into one, please contact Pastor Eric at ericscott@elimgospel.org and he will try and help you find a group that will fit your situation and need.

How long is a quarter?

Generally 10-12 weeks although once in awhile we will have a shortened quarter for a particular emphasis.

Where do groups meet?

Mostly, Community Groups meet in the homes of people in our congregation. However, other groups meet at the church and at local restaurants on occasion.

Is childcare provided for groups?

The groups meeting on Sunday nights in the Lima area often utilize the childcare provided through KidzQuest and Outbreak at the church. However, if a group meets on another night, the group may make their own arrangements. If you need childcare, but cannot afford it, EGC can reimburse so that you may attend a Community Group.

How do I join a group?

Go to the next Groups Fair and sign up, or, if you want to be involved in a group right away contact Pastor Eric at ericscott@elimgospel.org.

What better way to deal with the everyday challenges of life than by spending time with others who are going through similar challenges? We encourage everyone at our church to get involved in one of our many Community Groups.

Each group meets regularly in a home, the church and other convenient locations, depending on the group needs, to enjoy a couple hours of relaxed friendship and Bible study. Groups meet at various times and days of the week. We’ve tried to make it very easy to find the right group for you! Simply come to one of our Group Fairs to meet the various group leaders who are starting Community Groups that quarter, or contact us at the e-mail address given below.

Once you’ve made those connections, you’ll meet for 8-10 weeks with the group you’ve chosen. At the end of that time, your group will have the opportunity to continue meeting. However, you may not be able to meet that next quarter, or you may want to check out another group at the next Group Fair offered.

In Grow you will take time to identify your own personal areas of strength and learn how to develop a personal growth plan as well as cover other topics important to spiritual growth.

This class is for members who would like to expand their influence as servant-leaders within our church family. Influence explores the values, standards, and expectations our “influencers” commit to walking out in our daily lives. We hope you’ll start your own journey with us!
